SO grateful for Spring! The obsession with spring bulbs continues with pots full of daffodils and beautiful tulips filling the garden, I went for a bright red from Sarah Raven this year and they've been so joyful, unexpected red at its very best and giving the burst of colour we need. We have been busy with what we are calling a soft rebrand - hello LAMP LDN LIVING, and a relaunch of our Studio for our styling and event agency - LAMP LDN STUDIO. We've also been head down in moodboards and spreadsheets for new product development, with lots of exciting own brand things in the pipeline for the Autumn. We've also found a some brief moments to escape to the coast and enjoy our first seaside fish and chips of the year. Here's a little round up...
OUT & ABOUT
We had a lovely lunchtime 'picnic' with the amazing Cath Kidston at Jamb on Pimlico Road to celebrate the launch of her new Geranium No.4 products - its completely dreamy, as was Jamb with its oversized lighting and fireplaces - Charlotte and Will really do have impeccable taste. We popped into Chelsea Harbour for London Design Week and especially enjoyed seeing Ottoline’s new woven fabrics and doing a bit of collage with the lovely Beki Bright and Emerald from Bloomfield Ink.
NATURE
We somehow managed two trips to the west country this month - and were blessed with the most lovely spring days for long coastal walks and pub lunches. The Ebrington Arms in North Devon served up a refined but comforting Sunday roast that I'd take a 3 hour train for any day. And the Cornish Coastal town of Polperro (its car free and seeped in pirate-y history) where our friend has just bought and renovated the sweetest little cottage was a total treat for some real escapism.
FOOD!
We've had some good eating this month. Lunch at Martino’s was nothing short of sublime. Having your martini glass refreshed with a new ice cold one when you are two sips from the bottom is hospitality that I can really get on board with. We've also visited the new Welsh cafe in Peckham, Bara, and enjoyed their Bara Brith warm with butter, and a great hunk of a Coronation Chicken sandwich. A really great addition to the neighbourhood. Our latest obsession at home has to be anchovies on toast - sourdough, that salty french butter with crystals in it, lashings of anchovies and a pickley salad of shallots, capers and parsley - its an elite snack. You should make it immediately.
HOME
The renovations continue with a combination of eye-wateringly expensive quotes (Peckham) and endless shopping for fixtures and fittings (Hasting). A trip to Authentic Reclamation was a highlight where we were inspired by fire places and doors - not quite the ones we need for the projects but it’s a long game so we shall keep looking!
