I feel like every other post here about interiors includes some sort of moan about shoes and coats and where to put them - it clearly a real problem in my house!
A good boot room is the thing of a middle aged womans dreams if you ask me - hooks for multiplying coats, space for muddy boots (be them wellies or rugby) and then a home for all those other useful things that you can never find when you need them - think umbrellas and bags for life. It also gives a bit of the downstairs loo / laundry / utility which means that is a real joy to decorate. Think bold woodwork, tongue and groove if thats your thing (its very much mine - I'm going full cabin in the new house reno), playful wallpaper and baskets for all the 'stuff' that life accumulates and you don't want to have to look at.
And if, like me, you haven't got the luxury of a whole space to dedicate to footwear and outerwear, then find yourself a good joiner and get creative in your hallway with some built in storage. I'd also highly recommend putting a cupboard aside somewhere else in the house for extra coat storage, baskets for shoes in every room and regular trips to the charity shops / hauls on Vinted!
