We love plants. On shelves, on side boards, in the kitchen, in the hall - on any surface where we can find a space for one. We learnt when we were styling interiors for events and restaurants the power of the greenery - it literally does bring life into a room.
It may be a bit of a long shot for both of us as we plan our real life renovations (there’s not much space for a garden room when you are battling with London square footage) but I will never not remember and be inspired by the extraordinary room full of ferns at Mount Stuart, a Neo Gothic castle on this Isle of Bute, off the west coast of Scotland. Or the insanely beautiful study at Aldourie Castle on the banks of Loch Ness full of vintage rattan, designed by the brilliant Charlotte and Will from Jamb. One can but dream for a little bit of that magic somewhere in my life - one day!
For now it’s shopping for small shelves or stools in vintage rattan and bamboo at Sunbury Antiques to dress up the bathroom and going heavy on house plants - always from The Nunhead Gardener and looked after with our edit of house plant accessories from food to watering cans and even books telling you how to keep those pretty plants alive.
