Valentine's Inspiration for Date Night

This Valentine’s Day we’re spreading the love, whether that’s staying in or heading out. Here's our guide to what we'll be doing to make the day extra special.

SUPPER AT HOME

Draw the curtains, light the fire and fill the house with candles. Then just add your best kitchen playlist, a bottle of wine and a not too tricky to make supper from one of our fave new books, Table for Two. Food writer Bre Graham takes you from uncomplicated-but-outstanding all the way through to over-the-top-but-no-stress recipes and trust us, every single one delivers. This year we are going with the classics - Seafood Spaghetti followed by a Peach Melba.

Llewellyn's, Herne Hill

TABLE FOR 2

Be quick and book a table at
Llewellyn’s in Herne Hill - the very best type of neighbourhood restaurant. And if you can’t get a spot on Saturday night then Sunday lunch is epic. The best type of food is cooked with love, and you'll find this in spades here. Our order from their Valentine’s Day menu would look like this... start with a Blood Orange Margarita, Potato Bread & Butter and House Pickles, always the bread and pickles. Then its a double blood orange with a starter of Burrata, Radicchio & Blood Orange followed by the king of the sea, it is Valentines Day so its the time to be fancy - Turbot, Fondant Potato & Champagne Sauce. And for pudding, Clementine Panna Cotta with a glass of their House Quince Liqueur. Delish.

Bar Levan, Peckham

COCKTAILS PLEASE

A martini at Bar Levan is a thing of great beauty. My order would be vodka, dry with a twist and an olive, greedy I know. You'll find this sexy little corner spot just outside Peckham Rye station. And once you've had your second cocktail and you head feels a bit fuzzy order the Bavette with fries to share. A pretty perfect evening with a lover or a friend if you ask me.
